SENESCENCE
Senescence is an exploration of the effects of time on staged floral compositions. Senescence can be defined as "the aging process an organism undergoes, from full maturity to death" (Merriam-Webster, 2020). By scanning organic matter in a series of stages from life to its decay, I further examine the notion of time, a concept that has become increasingly ambiguous during this time of global unrest. I have scanned floral compositions over a period of two weeks to capture the evolving forms, textures, and colors of the materials. As the colors fade and condensation and mold take hold, one is reminded of our ecological environment regulated by cycles of decay and rebirth.
